WARNING! Truck Trader.
I placed an ad for an 80 Jeep Wagoneer in the local paper last fall
(The Oregonian) and another small local paper (The Valley Times). I
received ONE call from Auto Trader (Portland) suggesting I advertise
with them. I said NO and do not call me again. That was it. I never
heard from them again. I got 3-4 other calls from both ads but the car
never sold.
This spring I advertised the same truck in Auto Trader (actually Truck Trader and with picture). Their main office is a couple of miles from me and they took the picture of the truck when I drove over there to place the ad. I chose the "run until sold" option for a bit higher rate. I still only got a few phone calls, but the buyers were more focused due to the more effective and detailed advertising in Truck Trader. I sold it in 3 weeks.
I have not had any calls from Auto Trader except for that first time. I am very satisfied with the service they provided. Are we talking about the same company? The one I used is local to my area and has a 503 area code.
